INFO

My internship at RSVP Gallery was where I really began to cut my teeth as a creative. Working inside one of Chicago’s most influential streetwear and cultural spaces, I had the opportunity to do a little bit of everything: designing social content and graphics, photographing and retouching product and editorial imagery, styling, scouting locations, covering concerts and cultural events, and even managing the company’s ecommerce platform.

..

But the real education came from the people around me. I was lucky to learn from creatives who were actively shaping Chicago’s culture and carrying forward the ethos of Virgil Abloh and Don C, people who taught me to look beyond the traditional boundaries of design and to see creativity as a way of engaging with culture.

RSVP showed me that design could be part of something bigger: fashion, music, sport, community and commerce all feeding into one another. It taught me to be curious, resourceful and willing to get my hands dirty, while giving me an early understanding of the power of creating culture rather than simply responding to it. Looking back, it was less an internship and more a crash course in how to be a creative.
